"Perpetrators of the Khojaly tragedy must be punished. Peace can be established based on truth and justice," a member of the French National Assembly and president of Association of Friends of Azerbaijan Jerom Lamber said at the event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
Lamber said that the Khojaly genocide must never be forgotten:
"The history of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been ignored by the European people. The propaganda carried out by the Armenian lobby has all the traces of the crimes committed by the Armenian troops. I have found out the scale of events that have gone unnoticed, sometimes even hidden or distorted. The Khojaly tragedy can be compared to the tragedy of the French village of Oradour sur Glane that happened in 1944. On June 10, 1944, soldiers of 'SS Das Reich' massacred 643 villagers, and this tragedy is an integral part of French history. The Khojaly massacre is an integral part of Azerbaijani history and can never be forgotten. "
He also added that perpetrators of the Khojaly tragedy must be brought to justice:
"France, which is proud to be the homeland of human rights must properly assess the Khojaly tragedy and the acts of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis in Armenia. The perpetrators of all massacres, including the Khojaly tragedy, must be punished. Peace can only be established based on truth and justice. France must be just in its policy towards the Azerbaijani people," French MP stated.
